About Third Church of Christ, Scientist, San Antonio, Texas

Thank you so much for your interest in our church! We are a branch of the Christian Science denomination, a worldwide organization founded by Mary Baker Eddy in the late 1800s. Third Church of Christ, Scientist, San Antonio, Texas has been part of the San Antonio community since 1985 when a small group of Christian Scientists purchased a two story house on 11914 Rustic Lane and quickly began renovations, much of the work carried out by the soon to be members. 

Our church is run by volunteers — there is no ordained clergy. We rotate leadership roles among the members.

Our community includes people from many backgrounds. We all share an interest in growing our spiritual practices and having them be practical in our lives. We are individually committed to bettering our community and the world we live in.

We would love to have you join us on Wednesdays and Sundays and cordially invite you to bring your children to our Sunday School!

About Christian Science and Mary Baker Eddy

Mary Baker Eddy discovered Christian Science in 1866 and founded The Church of Christ, Scientist in 1879 to “commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.”
(Church Manual p.17:10-13).

Christian Science is based on the teachings of the Bible, and is fully explained in Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, first published in 1875. Its system of healing has a practical application to
individual challenges and daily events.
